While some opt for the colder months of January hoping for those sought-after powder days, many are turning to Spring for their holiday. Despite Summer being around the corner the season is far from over! Spring time skiing boasts soft snow under foot with long sunny days to enjoy.
La Plagne had over six metres of snow in 2016/17 and even into the sunny months of Spring the average snow depth was nearly two metres! With over 70% of La Plagne’s pistes sitting over 2000m we’re certainly not worried about a lack of snow on the slopes!
If you hit the piste between 11-3pm you can experience that glorious soft Spring snow, some would argue some of the best conditions of the season. For beginners, children and experts alike the snow provides a softer landing unlike the hard-packed snow you can find in earlier months. While we may all be desperate for those fresh powder days, Spring snow conditions are sure to last longer than that one mega dump of powder.
With the clocks going forward we can also look forward to longer days with more hours of sunshine! This means not only can you grab some extra time on the slopes with the lifts operating till later, but it leaves a little more time to enjoy a drink at Après!
After the madness of the February half term, Spring offers a more relaxed time of year with the slopes generally being quieter. This means more turns, more runs and fewer queues for you to enjoy the pistes.
La Plagne itself offers some great extra activities if you visit in Spring with its yearly event; ‘Subli Cimes’. This year it will run from the 9-15th of April over the Easter holidays and hosts a great program of activities across 5 summits within the ski area. These events are all free and designed to entertain, relax and surprise all ages! Each year follows a different theme with 2019’s event focused on the 5 senses; sound, sight, smell, touch and taste. This involved an aromatherapy themed igloo, open-air Jacuzzi and virtual reality experience just to name a few! This year marks the 5th year of Subli Cimes with the theme to still be unveiled!
With Spring time being a firm favourite among many seasonaires, it’s also enjoyed by some of the professionals. We’ve had the Lobster team stay with us each Spring and they had great fun trying out La Plagne’s offerings and will no doubt be back for more this April!
