Chalet Cook/Host Dual Role

We’re looking for talented cooks with positive attitudes and a love of the mountains to work in our 8 man chalets.  You will cook our five day, three course menu, while keeping high standards of cleanliness throughout the chalet, controlling stock and budgets and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for our guests.  Each day varies so we require strong flexibility and willingness, with some days requiring more prep and receiving food and linen deliveries etc.

Your Responsibilities

You will be in charge of the entire chalet yourself so you are responsible for both cleaning and cooking, as well as maintaining the hot tub and ensuring guests questions are answered and have a great stay.

  • Preparing and serving breakfast, afternoon tea, and a delectable three-course evening meal, with aperitifs and canapés on arrival day.
  • Catering to guests’ dietary requirements and preferences, ensuring everyone enjoys a memorable dining experience. Provide children’s dinner if and when appropriate.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen and chalet; with a full chalet turnover weekly.
  • Completing admin, food orders, relaying stocks to management. Maintain weekly budgets and ensure all receipts are submitted in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Snow clearing.
  • Daily testing and maintenance of hot tub chemical levels with a full water change each week.

Chalet Host

You will be assisting the chef in our larger chalets.  You’ll be responsible for laying the table, cleaning the rooms, talking to the guests, assisting the chef, serving breakfast and dinner, making cakes etc.  Cooking experience will be required in case you need to stand in for the chef in an emergency.

Desirable Skills & Competencies

  • Have a powerful work ethic and desire to complete your job to a high standard with attention to detail.
  • A sense of fun and enthusiasm for the job, our company, and our guests.
  • Experience of working in a professional hospitality setting and an understanding that the guests come first.
  • Applicants will have a proven track record of relevant customer focussed experience and you will need to be an experienced chef or cook with relevant skilled work experience.
  • Work independently as well as in a team.
  • Excellent guest relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Good self-motivation.
  • Organised and pro-active, with high level of job flexibility.
  • Excellent time keeping and reliability.
  • Be determined to perform all aspects of your role to the highest standards and take pride in your work, whether it be housekeeping, food preparation & presentation, chalet administration or guest interaction.
  • Have a keen interest in people – you will have daily interaction with our guests and play a huge part in making our guests’ holiday so we’re after a sociable personality who will enjoy getting to know new guests every week and build a rapport.
  • Be able to problem solve and be able to work on your own catering for up to 8 people with confidence.
  • You should be physically fit with plenty of enthusiasm and stamina. (One of our chalets is on a piste!)
